"Guidelines have been established that the minimum cage size for breeders must be 2200 cu. in. and for a single animal 1500 cu. in. This allows for adequate exercise and yet allows for a number of animals in a smaller space. The number of animals in your chin area should be kept to a number that will allow enough room for proper maintenance and management as well as fresh air. Ideal population density could reach up to one square foot of floor space or eight cubic feet of room space per animal without causing difficulty in breathing. (Ex. 3000 animals in a 38’ x 80’ room with an 8’ ceiling (38’ x 30’ x 8’)."
